Don Winter

Don Winter has been a pioneer in the media industry for more than 30 years, establishing several successful businesses that have landed on Inc. 500’s list of the fastest-growing private companies in the United States.

He is the founder and CEO of Encompass Media Group (EMG), an “out of home” media company launched in 2001. EMG offers its clients more than 25 nontraditional media platforms that break through the clutter of advertising to reach consumers in a meaningful way throughout the nation. EMG has been a recipient of numerous awards and has been included as an Inc. 500 company, a winner of an IT LIST Award for its event marketing division, and a winner of the US Chamber of Commerce Blue Ribbon Award.

Don is also the visionary founder behind Resident Newspaper Group, which publishes Resident, a luxury lifestyle magazine that captures the high-life of living in New York and showcases community news, business and local events. New York icons like Blair Underwood, Mika Brzezinski, Craig Melvin, and Maria Bartiromo have graced recent covers. Before selling the company in 2021, Don managed all facets of its operation, including sales and editorial. He expanded the publication’s reach and coverage area, transitioning it from a newsprint into a magazine format.

Don has served on the boards of numerous privately held companies, and also on several New York-based nonprofit boards. He has been an integral board member of the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce since 1993.

Don is a long-time resident of the Upper West Side where he resides with his wife and two daughters.
